shot at 36th street and west street. ktvu channel 2 reporter jade hernandez joins us now from oakland with more on all this violence, jade. >> reporter: good morning. investigations are not unusual in oakland but last night the calls began rolling in. three shootings all within an hour as you minced. the first happened at foothill boulevard and 62nd avenue where a man was shot. someone shot the man in the back. let's take a look at that video right there. while officers were helping that victim someone drove up to them and reported another shooting on 79th avenue and holly streets. officers found a woman there. her finger had been shot off. paramedics rushed her to highland hospital. then decision patchers sent officers on their third shooting of the night. two victims were found in that shooting, a man and woman. their injuries were more severe, it appears they were sitting in their car when they were shot. both were rushed to highland hospital and surgery once they arrived. they are in critical condition. at this point these shootings don't seem to be connected but no information wa
with the 9th u.s. circuit court of appeals in san francisco but it appears only the prison can actually -- if the 9th circuit u.s. court doesn't grant -- [ inaudible ] >> reporter: -- only then. the condemned man is albert green woofed brown. he was sentenced to death in 1982 for the rape and murder of a 15-year-old riverside, california, girl. this morning attorneys speaking for brown will ask a marin superior court to stay the execution. they say changes to the lethal injection protocol are minor and that the judge that allowed it to go forward doesn't respond correctly or allow public commentment yesterday he missed a deadline to choose between a one drug execution and a three drug execution. >> the judge's ruling today really gives albert brown a hobson's choice, which is no choice at all. judge fogel is saying albert brown must either give up his rights under the federal constitution or his rights under state law. it is completely unfair. >> the 9th circuit court of appeal will look at several of the issues including the judge's ruling itself. the judge, who said there are several

at the hair and nail salon where she used to work. investigators say efren valdemoro strangled cindy tran while she was in his car as he was being chased by police. cindy tran called her coworkers on her cell phone during the chase. they say they heard her begging for her life. >>> police are trying to trackdown two men suspected of kidnapping and killing an east palo alto man. jade hernandez joins us from the alameda county sheriff's office with more. >> reporter: good morning. the two men were last seen in sacramento and oakland. that is why we are live at the alameda county sheriff's office. the sheriff's office is hoping to get the new information out this morning. the new information was released from the sheriff's office overnight. we are live in san meandro. these are the two men sheriff's officers are looking for this morning. they are both suspects in the kidnapping and death of an east palo alto. the sheriff's office has arrest warrants for manuel trujillo and big momma's and mom -- and muhammad kahn. police believe they are responsible for the death of frankie lopez. he was fo
this morning about what happened last night. family members tell us that 57- year-old dennis wayne dixon was shot in the doorway of his apartment, that is the apartment with the light on the porch and his stepson was tied up and beaten. take a look at this. paramedics rushed him to the hospital. we are told the stepson lived here with him and may soon be released from the hospital later this morning. the details which led up to the shooting are not complete yet. initially police confirmed this was a home invasion but the victims and suspects may have known each other. his mother was told her son pulled up to the apartment and exchanged words with the suspects which is when they tried to force themselves into the apartment. that is when dennis dixon was shot in the doorway. we are even hearing the stepson wasn't the only one in the apartment at the time of the shooting. her mother told us her son was a vendor of sorts and had a booth where he sold clothes and dvds out of. she said she could barely understand the bad news. >> she was crying on the phone but i could not understand nothing b

invasion where the woman was sexually assaulted. park regency used to have one security guard on duty, but management hired a few more guards after the last of three assaults. they posted flyers warning residents about the incident in june. latest last night happened at 6:00 p.m. the woman told the sheriff's office that she was attacked in her apartment. the spoke man said the man followed the woman through the gates and followed her to her apartment and assaulted her. if the man is accused of three other assaults is still behind bars, who is responsible for the latest? >> i thought they caught the guy and it was all okay. i guess it is not. >> reporter: this is the man still behind bars in connection with the three other assaults at park regency. antonio mutan. his family and girlfriend claim he is innocent, but dna testing linked mutan linked him to a rape this as you will r summer -- rape this summer. reporting live from walnut creek, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> investigators are looking for a cause of a fire in bay point. this happened at the bay point bart station.

from highway 24. jade hernandez is out there on the scene. jade, what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, pam, i can tell you right now we have some good news. we've heard about 20 minutes ago they were able to cap this line. there was some difficulty though overnight. this happened around 11:20 last nighttime. here's the reason for the difficulty. crews were digging at three different spots. in those three different spots they had to be capped before the crews could stop the leak. at first pg&e thought this was a six inch break around 11:30 last night. so the fire department evacuated about 14 homes. then as knowledge spread that the line was only two inches, those families were allowed back inside. the fire department said there was no reason to be concerned about this gas leak. the chief told us that the gas was dissipating into the atmosphere. >> i just think that there's this heightened awareness of the potential of natural gas leaks and what could occur. yeah. we responded just like we would have responded any way. i think that the public's going to be more concerned. >> repo
